The Advantage of Using a
Digital Hearing Aid
If you go back recently as only a few years ago, analog hearing aids are what most people were using. While digital hearing aids were around, they were often way too expensive for anyone without means to use.
Over the last few years, there has literally been an explosion of digital hearing aids on the market.
One of the most prominent advantages of having a digital hearing aid is the lack of feedback that you will experience when you are wearing one.
Analog hearing aids are notorious for this and something that can actually be quite painful. The sheer fact that the digital ones are able to weed this out and give you a feedback free experience is worth the extra money for some.
Another feature that you will not get with an analog is noise reduction. This process works in much the same way that a nice pair of headphones will in that it eliminates extra outside noise to not interfere with the noises that you are actually trying to listen to. This again is a huge advantage.
Now while the two features that are
mentioned above are very important, they would not mean
anything without superior sound. This is the one true feature of a digital hearing aid that makes them so desirable. Even the less expensive ones would be like listening to a transistor radio and then putting on a Bose Stereo System. Yes, there is that much of a difference.
If there is any disadvantage at all, it is the fact that they will cost a little more. However, this is easily justified as you are paying about the same today for a high tech digital hearing aid that you did for an analog just a few years ago. The improved sound quality and other features make this an investment that is well worth the few extra dollars that you will have to pay.
Technology has improved by leaps and bounds from when the first digital hearing aid hit the market in the 1980’s. While you probably had to pay 5 or 6 times the price of a good analog device back then, that ratio has been reduced dramatically and the quality difference has grown by leaps and bounds.
When you take a good solid look at both devices, the decision is quite simple. Stay in the stone ages with an analog or enjoy everything that modern technology has to offer with a digital hearing aid. |
